Tips for a Productive Pre-Christmas Clear Out
As we approach the end of November, the countdown to Christmas is well and truly on! Christmas is always a busy time of the year, full of festivities, quality time with family and friends and plenty of thoughtful gifts! Before the festivities get into full swing, why not set aside some time for a pre-Christmas clear out. This is a great way to declutter and tidy before the craziness begins!
At Regen, we have outlined some of our top tips to help you organise your pre-Christmas clear out!
Declutter & Reorganise
Before you start cleaning your home, you should sort out and remove any items that are no longer used but are taking up space. This will make cleaning much easier and efficient as you won't have to navigate around these unused belongings. Start by clearing out overflowing drawers, kitchen cupboards, wardrobes and even your garage - it's guaranteed to give you instant satisfaction, knowing that your pre-Christmas clear out has begun!
Before you start throwing everything in the bin to go to landfill, think about the impact this will have on the environment. Sort your old belongings into donations, green waste, recyclables and non-recyclables. You should also consider if any of your old belongings can be up-cycled. For instance, why not spray paint a pair of old boots to create quirky flower pots?
Donate to Charity
When you're clearing out your home, you may find unused items that could make a difference to someone else this Christmas. If so, why not donate these to your local charity shop? Charities are always looking for great gifts to sell in their stores, so if you have any unwanted toys, books, clothes or furniture, simply drop them off and make a difference to those who are less fortune this festive season.
Get the Whole Family Involved
Make you pre-Christmas decluttering session a family bonding opportunity! Get everyone involved, especially the kids, and get the work done is half the time. Why not reward everyone with a pizza night or BBQ for their hard work? This is also a great way to teach the kids about teamwork, as well as some cleaning skills.
